Web

Websites, web apps and platform moves for Australian service businesses. Start here if you know the site isn’t pulling its weight but aren’t sure whether you need a tidy-up, a rebuild or something custom.

One plan across design, build and launch.

What we can help with

Pick the project before the platform

Most website problems fit one of these jobs. Scope, timing and fees are written down before anyone opens a code editor.

  • Fast lead-generation sites for trades and local services
  • Custom website builds when a template runs out of road
  • WordPress design, care plans and security fixes
  • Web apps: quoting tools, client portals and dashboards
  • Headless and enterprise builds for larger content teams
  • Platform and domain migrations that protect your rankings

Web in practice

Which kind of web project do you actually have?

A plumber whose site is slow and hard to call from on a phone has a different problem from a builder who wants clients to log in and see progress photos. The first needs a cleaner, faster lead site. The second needs a small web application. A business moving from Wix to WordPress, or merging two brand domains into one, needs a migration plan before any design work. We sort the request into the right bucket first, because the wrong bucket is where budgets blow out.

If the site mainly needs to win calls and quote requests, our small business website builds are usually the right size. Larger or more unusual builds sit under custom website development.

Planning and implementation

Fixing the current site versus starting again

A rebuild is not always the answer. If the platform is sound and the problem is weak service pages, a buried phone number or a contact form that emails nobody, targeted fixes cost less and keep what already ranks. A rebuild earns its place when the theme can’t be updated safely, every edit needs a developer, or the structure can’t hold the services and suburbs you want to rank for. We’ll tell you which side of that line you’re on, including when the honest answer is to leave most of it alone.

Once the site is live, conversion rate optimisation works on the pages people already visit, and local SEO brings more of the right visitors to them.

How we work

How a web project runs with us

01

Diagnose the current site

We look at how enquiries arrive today, what the site runs on, what ranks and what breaks on a phone.

02

Scope the right build

You get a written scope naming the pages, features, integrations, who supplies copy and photos, and what launch means.

03

Launch, track and adjust

Calls, form fills and bookings are tracked from day one so the next round of changes rests on real enquiries.

Measurement and review

What a good website project should change

For most service businesses the test is simple: more phone calls and quote requests for the right services and suburbs, with less admin to handle them. Call tracking and form events show enquiries by page and by service, and every lead is routed into your CRM so nothing sits in an inbox.

For apps and portals the measures change: fewer phone calls asking for job status, quotes turned around faster, fewer manual data entry steps. We agree the measure before the build so the result can be checked against it.

Good questions

Questions about web projects

A few useful answers before we talk.

How do I know which kind of web project I need?

Start with the job the site has to do. If it needs to win calls and quote requests for a local service, a focused lead site is usually enough. If customers or staff need to log in, enter data or get a calculated price, you're into web application territory. If the site works but sits on the wrong platform or domain, it's a migration. Plenty of projects combine two of these, and a short call with your current URL usually sorts it out.

Should we fix the site we have or rebuild it?

Fix it if the platform is current, you can edit it without breaking things and the main problems are content, speed or the enquiry path. Rebuild if the theme or plugins are abandoned, the site can't be updated safely, or the page structure can't support the services and areas you want to rank for. We'd rather recommend a few weeks of fixes than sell a rebuild that carries the same problems onto a new design.

Who should own the website and domain?

You should. The domain should be registered to your business with a login you control, hosting should sit in an account you can access, and you should hold admin access to the site, analytics and Google Business Profile. If an earlier provider holds your domain or hosting, sorting that out is often the first job before any redesign, because a site you can't access is a site you can't move.

What does a website cost?

It varies with the number of page types, how much copy and photography is needed, the integrations involved and whether anything custom is being built. A lead site for a trade business sits at a very different price point from a client portal. Our service business marketing budget guide explains how we think about spend across the website and the channels feeding it, and you get a written scope before work starts.

Can the free audit tell us whether we need a new website?

Usually, yes. The free audit looks at how your current site handles a visitor who wants to call or ask for a quote, what it ranks for, how it performs on a phone and what's broken. You get a prioritised checklist you can act on yourself or with anyone you choose. Building or fixing anything is quoted separately. Request the free marketing audit here.

A useful starting point

What the free audit tells you about your site

For web, the audit starts with the enquiry path: how quickly a visitor on a phone can see what you do, where you work and how to reach you.

  • Where calls and quote requests are being lost on mobile
  • Whether the platform is worth keeping or holding you back
  • A fix-first checklist, with build work quoted only if you want it
