What we can help with
A typical first build covers the pages below. More get added only when there’s search demand or a sales reason for them.
Small Business Website Development in practice
Most small business visitors arrive on a phone, often from a Google search or your Google Business Profile, and they decide within seconds whether to call. The page needs your phone number tappable at the top, the service they searched for in plain words, the suburbs you cover and a reason to trust you: licence number, real photos of your work, recent reviews. Fancy animations and stock photography slow that down. We build for load speed and clarity first.
Your website and your local SEO work as a pair. The site gives Google service pages to rank, and your Google Business Profile links back to them.
Planning and implementation
You don’t need forty suburb pages on day one. Thin suburb pages with swapped place names tend to be ignored by Google and can drag the rest of the site down. We launch with strong pages for your main services, then add a page when there’s a real reason: a service with its own search demand, a suburb where you’ve done enough jobs to show genuine local photos and reviews, or a seasonal offer worth promoting. If a one-page site is all your referral-driven business needs, we’ll say so.
WordPress is a sensible default for small business sites because you can edit text and photos yourself. If you plan to run ads, a dedicated landing page set up through Google Ads management usually converts better than sending clicks to the home page.
How we work
01
One call covers your services, the jobs you want more of, your service area and the photos and reviews you already have.
02
We write or tidy the copy, build the pages on a lean layout and send a staging link to check on your own phone.
03
Domain, Google Business Profile link, Search Console, analytics and call tracking are set up before handover.
Measurement and review
Count phone calls from the site, quote forms submitted and the jobs those enquiries turn into. Page views and time on site matter much less. With leads flowing into Simple CRM, you can see which service pages produce booked work and which only produce tyre-kickers.
Check mobile load speed and the enquiry form every month or so. A broken form on a small site can go unnoticed for weeks, because nobody complains about an email they never received.
Good questions
A few useful answers before we talk.
It depends mostly on how quickly content arrives. If you already have a logo, photos of your work and a list of services and suburbs, a lean lead site can usually go from brief to launch in a few weeks. Waiting on copy approvals, a new logo or a domain stuck with a previous provider is what stretches timelines. You get a dated plan at the start, and we flag anything we're waiting on.
Probably, though it may not need to be big. People referred by a friend still look you up before calling, and a missing or broken site can cost you that job. Marketplace leads are often shared with competing businesses and you pay for access to them, whereas enquiries from your own site and Google Business Profile come to you alone. A small, credible site with your licence, reviews and real photos supports both channels.
Yes. The editor is set up so you can change text, swap photos, add a finished project or update an offer without touching the layout, and we walk you through the common tasks at handover. Adding a new page template, connecting a booking tool or changing how the form routes leads are better left to us, quoted as small jobs rather than tied to a retainer.
It varies with page count, whether we write the copy, the photography you have and extras such as online booking or a quote calculator. A focused lead site costs a fraction of a custom build and is quoted as a fixed price before work starts. For how a website fits alongside ads, SEO and other spend, see our marketing budget guide for service businesses.
Yes, that's what the free audit is for. We check how your site loads on a phone, whether the phone number and quote form are easy to find, which pages Google shows and where your Google Business Profile points. You get a checklist in priority order, and some sites only need those fixes rather than a full rebuild. Get the free audit and checklist.

A useful starting point
For a small business site, the audit checks the basics that win or lose a call: speed, phone number, service clarity and proof.
