Services / Software Development
Bespoke business software, integrations and automation for service businesses whose systems don’t talk to each other. Less double entry, fewer spreadsheets, cleaner data from enquiry to invoice.
Join the systems you already pay for.
Every handoff from lead to invoice.
Connect existing tools before writing new ones.
Alerts when a sync or job fails.
What we can help with
Most projects here remove manual steps between tools you already use. Typical requests include the following.
Software Development in practice
A familiar pattern in service businesses: a lead arrives by web form, gets typed into a job management system, re-typed into a quote, then into the accounting package when the job is done. Each step is a chance to lose a lead or mistype a price. We sit with the people doing the work, trace every handoff and count the manual steps. Often the fix is an integration between existing tools, such as your job software and Xero, rather than new software.
Lead capture and follow-up can often run through Simple CRM without custom code. Where staff or customers need screens to work in, the build becomes a custom web app.
Planning and implementation
Business software encodes decisions: which leads go to which estimator, when a quote expires, what counts as a completed job. If those rules live in someone’s head, the software will get them wrong. We document them as plain-language rules with examples, agree them with the people who run the process, and turn each into a test. That way the system can be checked, and when the rules change, everyone knows what needs updating.
Larger organisations with several systems and approval layers may need this inside an enterprise web development program. For a mobile tool used by field staff, see app development.
How we work
01
We map the current workflow, the systems involved, who touches each step and where data gets lost or retyped.
02
Business rules are documented and tested, then integrations or tools run in parallel with the old process.
03
Once results match, the old process is retired, failed-sync alerts go live and support is agreed.
Measurement and review
Measure the time and errors the software was meant to remove: hours of data entry per week, leads nobody contacted, invoices sent late, jobs booked twice. Record those for a few weeks before the build, then compare once the new system has been running.
Reliability matters as much as features. Track failed syncs, error alerts and support requests, because an automation nobody trusts gets bypassed and the manual work quietly returns.
Good questions
A few useful answers before we talk.
Check the second option first. Many job management, CRM and accounting tools have features or integrations that aren't switched on, and fixing configuration costs far less than a build. Custom software is justified when your process is genuinely different, when no available integration covers the connection you need, or when subscription costs across several tools exceed what a focused build would cost to run.
Often, yes. Xero and MYOB, along with many job management packages used in Australia, publish APIs or offer existing connectors. The first check is whether a supported integration already exists. If not, a sync can be built that maps customers, jobs, quotes and invoices, handles errors and logs every transfer. The vendor's API limits decide what's possible, so that's confirmed before quoting.
Integrations most often break when a vendor changes their API or someone renames a field. Logging and alerts are built in so failures are noticed quickly instead of weeks later, and each part is documented. Support is agreed upfront, either as an ongoing arrangement with us or as documented code your own developer can pick up. Either way, someone is named as responsible before go-live.
By scope. A single integration between two systems is a modest job; a multi-role internal tool with reporting is a project. A defined first stage is priced after the workflow is mapped, along with running costs such as hosting and third-party API fees. Prices vary a lot between projects, so the budget guide is a better starting point than a rule of thumb.
Partly. The free audit reviews your website, tracking and enquiry path, which shows where leads arrive and whether they're captured and followed up properly. That's often where the first automation win sits. A full workflow review across your back-office systems, covering job management, quoting and accounting, is a separate scoped piece of work. A useful starting point
For software projects, the audit traces what happens to an enquiry after it leaves your website.
