Link building for Australian service businesses, done in ways Google accepts: local sponsorships, supplier and association listings, and digital PR built on what you actually know about your trade. No link packages and no private blog networks.
Earned mentions from sites your customers already read and trust.
Find what you have and what's risky.
List the links you're entitled to earn.
Log every link and any visits it sends.
What we can help with
Every opportunity below is something a person at another organisation chooses to give you because the link makes sense for their readers.
Link Building in practice
Google’s spam policies are explicit: buying or selling links to pass ranking credit is link spam. That covers the guest post packages sold by the hundred, private blog networks and sites that exist only to sell placements. Paid or sponsored links are allowed when they carry rel=”sponsored” or rel=”nofollow”, but then they don’t pass ranking value. Bought links that slip through are often ignored by Google’s systems, and a pattern of them can lead to a manual action in Search Console. We would rather earn a handful of links a competitor can’t buy than hand you a report full of placements that do nothing.
Good links usually point to good pages. If your service pages are thin, SEO copywriting comes first, because nobody links to a page that says nothing.
Planning and implementation
Most service businesses already have relationships that should be links. The junior footy or netball club you sponsor can list you on its sponsors page. Trade associations such as Master Builders, HIA, Master Plumbers or NECA often have member directories. Manufacturers and suppliers run ‘find an installer’ pages for accredited installers. Your local chamber of commerce, business park association and the charity events you support all count. Digital PR goes a step further: a roofer who explains what to check after a hailstorm, or a builder who can say plainly what a council rule change means for homeowners, can earn coverage in local news and trade media when the timing is right.
Before outreach starts we review your existing backlinks, the same check that sits inside our SEO audits, to find spammy links bought by a past provider. For businesses selling to other businesses, the angles shift towards case studies and trade publications, which overlaps with B2B SEO.
How we work
01
We pull your backlinks, flag paid or spammy patterns and compare your referring domains with the businesses outranking you locally.
02
Associations, suppliers, sponsorships and PR angles, each with a contact, the reason they’d link and what we need from you.
03
We handle the outreach, log every live link with its URL and type, and tell you plainly when a pitch went nowhere.
Measurement and review
We report on the linking pages themselves: who linked, whether the link is followed, which page it points at and whether it sends visitors. Domain Rating and Domain Authority are vendor scores, not Google’s, so we treat them as a rough guide only.
Over a few months, the useful signal is movement for the pages that received links, in rankings and in enquiries. Links from a local paper or an association often send real referral visits as well.
Good questions
A few useful answers before we talk.
No, and be wary of anyone who does. An earned link depends on another site's editor or manager agreeing to publish it. A guaranteed monthly quota almost always means paid placements on sites built to sell links. We agree the outreach activity, the targets and how we report, and every link we land is listed with its source so you can check it yourself.
First, find out what's there. We review the backlink profile for paid posts, link networks and irrelevant foreign sites. If Search Console shows a manual action for unnatural links, those links need removing or disavowing and a reconsideration request lodged. Without a manual action, Google largely ignores such links, so a disavow file is sometimes unnecessary. We'll tell you which situation you're in before recommending any work.
Treat it as community marketing first. A link given as part of a paid sponsorship should strictly carry rel="sponsored", so its direct ranking value is limited. The bigger gains are local: parents, players and committee members who need your trade, plus mentions in club newsletters and social pages. Sponsorships also tend to produce unpaid links later, such as a local news story about the club that names its supporters.
It includes a top-level look at who links to you and whether anything looks risky, alongside the wider website and search review. You get a checklist that names the most useful link opportunities for your trade and area. A full backlink clean-up or outreach campaign is scoped separately. See what the free audit covers.

A useful starting point
For link building, the review starts with who links to you now, what looks risky and which local links competitors have that you don’t.
